friends cut

It's time for the Unpopular 'friends cut' Post. I hate the term. I'm not cutting people; I'm cutting online pseuds I no longer connect with people. I hope that much is obvious!
My flist has grown to a crazy number of 154(!) mutual friends, and as I go through the names, I'm realising I haven't interacted with certain people in forever - if ever. Much as I appreciate the sentiment of someone with similar interests putting me on their radar, I don't see the point anymore. And please be ensured that even if I defriended you, I still value your opinion and the exchange with you, e.g. in comms. Sometimes interaction in neutral environments is all we want, no?

But my journal is my notepad, and I want to feel I know every single person who might (theoretically) be reading my entries. So I'm cutting people I no longer feel close to or I feel aren't interested anyway. [Or who simply haven't given a sign of life for years..] Please don't be offended! This is, of course, also the moment for you to defriend me if you've had enough of me.

If you feel I cut you and shouldn't have, tell me now ;) But I believe that friending business is mostly a mutual sentiment anyway.

I know I'm not about to be cut, but I'm speaking for the majority of people you cut. (not including myself) They think. "Whatever." "Who cares" "Who the heck is mijeli?" "I am sooooo wounded I actually commented once in a useless way, waaaah"

I agree! I am going to also unlist you due to an overflowing flist - but no hurt feelings! I am happy to see you at least let people know why you're cutting XD Maybe we will run into each other in the future - either way, thanks for letting us know :)

You are very nice. I've been thinking for awhile about doing a cut, but have no desire to post a heads up this time. jad's comment is making me rethink that...although I still probably won't :)

Well, I just want to be respectful :3 Though I realise that a great number of the people I cut won't even care or notice. If you think the people you are going to cut won't, then why make a post?

Yeah, that's my thinking. It's mostly people that I just don't talk to, or if I do they don't respond. That's really not what I'm here for. There are a couple of people I'm wanting to defriend because I don't want to read their posts anymore, but I'm also afraid I'll hurt their feelings. I don't know what to do about that.

I'm glad I wasn't cut. I know I don't comment all that often, but I do read your posts. I'll try to make more of an effort!

Actually, I should make more of an effort to actually use LJ in the first place. I used to use this journal a lot, but I don't seem to anymore...

I don't just cut people who don't comment - I don't expect everyone to be around all the time! (I know I'm not, either.) But I get the occasional glimpse into your life and still have a name and face to go with the pseud. (Hey, I even sent you a postcard once! :D) So I'd love for you to stick around.

Yeah, don't we all go through these on/off phases? I think it's a lot about habit..

Well, I CAN wrap my head around it, because you make friends easily online (or sometimes you do) and then you find out that after a while there's not quite as much to share. Well I find I have a bit to share with you! :) <3

oh, I'm thinking about doing the same...or better yet to start over at my english lj...cause in this one it seem I have so little friends left...I read my f-list and understan that I don't care about most of those people %) how the hell did I even end up befriended with them?)))
